Sunday 21st August saw the running of the Daffodil Day Rally for Cancer In conjunction with North Shore and Waitemata Branches. It was a perfect sunny day in the middle of a long rainy spell and a large selection of cars old and new – from Model T to Tesla – made the non-competitive run from North Shore Airfield to Matakana. The route was along SH16, through Kaukapakapa and along West Coast and Woodcocks Roads to Warkworth, and across SH1 at the infamous Hill Street intersection for the final stretch to Matakana. The parking lot there easily accommodated the 140 vehicles, some of which did not do the rally and were displayed only, and we raised $2,415.40 for the Cancer Society in registration fees and donations to the bucket shakers, so it was a very successful day.
