Saturday 14th May was the 50th anniversary of the North Shore Branch’s first rally back in 1973. It started at the ferry terminal in Devonport and finished at Warkworth, and in 2023 the rally was run along the same route to commemorate the original. The Warkworth Branch hosted the finish so we had some 40 cars arriving on our turf, and what a diverse selection of cars they were, ranging from an Austin Special to a Zephyr. The dark blue 1924 Sunbeam roaster parked closest to the clubhouse had been driven in the 1973 rally and is still going strong after 99 years. It was good to see our clubroom full for the first time in many months as we fed and watered the contestants on snacks and tea/coffee and observed the prize-giving. Some of the contestants have taken part in our own rallies in the past and now that they know where we are we hope many more will do so in the future, starting with our Winter Woollies Wander on 1st July
