On a dark and wintry Sunday 31st July 2016 a contingent of members met at Smale’s Farm to see the casual monthly display of cars. It was cold and wet but in between the frequent showers periods of sunlight lit up the cars which ranged in size from a diminutive Lancia Stratos to a vast Chrysler 300 and in cost from a humble Ford Popular to a pristine Packard drop-head coupe. There were lineups of Holdens and Minis, some trucks and a few exotica like a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Ferrari 512 and a Porsche GT3 RS. Most of the cars on display were American muscle cars of the sixties and seventies, along with some of their more recent models, and a sprinkling of hot-rods. The long queue at the coffee truck was not worth the cold wait and after an hour or so we headed for the Sunday Farmers Market held in an old aircraft hangar at Hobsonville Point, and then warmed up over lunch at The Brigham restaurant nearby.
